Fresh Soul Job Training program Application
SERA’s nonprofit restaurant, Fresh Soul is a job training program for youth ages 14 to 18. Our program runs for 12 weeks and covers topics such as kitchen training, kitchen etiquette, food handling skills, service, having a bank account, budgeting, resume building, job search, interview skills, mentoring, and pride in and giving service to their community. We also offer tutoring resources to ensure these teens are doing well in school while gaining valuable job skills.
The first 2 weeks of our job training program consist of Saturday classes teaching the basics of good kitchen practices and food handling. The following 10 weeks see the student working in the restaurant while learning about the many aspects of employment including time management, career planning, resume building, overcoming personal barriers to success, and so much more!
If you or someone you know are interested in our job training program, fill out the application and we will contact you as soon as possible to set up a phone interview*.

2025 DATES COMING SOON
To apply, please submit your application at least 3 weeks before orientation. A response to set up an initial interview will come to you by email. Make sure you put an email address on the form that you check regularly and make sure you have typed it in correctly before hitting submit. If you have not heard back within two weeks, come in to Fresh Soul and ask to speak with Ms. Karen.
The program runs for 12 weeks for each crew and you must be available for all 12 weeks to work Friday evenings and Saturdays as well as attend life skills classes on Saturday mornings. If you are unable to make that commitment please wait to apply until you are available.
There is an initial interview and then mandatory orientation you must attend both with your parent/guardian. Please note that if your parent cannot come to orientation, you will not be eligible for our program.
To get ready for orientation, please visit the Fresh Soul restaurant page and download a copy of the menu. You must have the menu memorized and pass a menu test to begin working in the restaurant. You will also be expected to memorize our mission statement.
Other things you can do to increase your chances of getting into the program are - visit the restaurant and say hello to Mr. Brown and Ms. Tracy. Let them know you are applying to the program. Be prepared for your initial interview, have note taking materials, and ask questions. Show up at least 15 minutes early to orientation. (At least one parent or guardian must attend orientation with you.) If you are on social media, follow our pages and stay up to date on what we are doing. Read our blog and look through the rest of our website to become familiar with our organization.
